Ingredients:
- 1 lb. sushi-grade tuna, finely diced
- 2 ripe avocados, diced
- 1 cucumber, finely diced
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. sesame oil
- 2 tbsp. lime juice
- 1 tsp. Sriracha sauce (optional)
- Wonton wrappers (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the tuna. Start by selecting fresh sushi-grade tuna and finely dicing it. Place it in a bowl; we’re keeping things simple and delightful.
- Create the marinade. In another bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and a dash of Sriracha if you want a bit of heat. This marinade is going to add an extra layer of flavour to our tower.
- Marinate the Tuna: Gently toss the diced tuna in the marinade and let it chill in the fridge for 15-20 minutes. This allows the flavours to mingle and create a delightful harmony.
- Prepare the tower components: Dice the avocados, cucumber, and red onion, and halve the cherry tomatoes. Toast sesame seeds until they’re golden brown, and chop fresh cilantro. These components will come together beautifully.
- Assemble the Tower: Using a ring mould or a small bowl, start layering: tuna, avocado, cucumber, red onion, and tomatoes. Repeat until you have a charming tower on your plate.
- Garnish: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and fresh cilantro on top. If you want a bit of crunch, add a fried wonton wrapper.
- Serve and enjoy. Carefully remove the ring mould, and there you have it—your Tuna Tartare Tower. Drizzle a bit more soy sauce or lime juice for that extra touch. Serve it with some crispy wonton chips or on a bed of mixed greens for a delightful dining experience.
