Also, I like to mix up the drinking glasses: traditional stemmed martini glasses, mason jars for a fun picnic, champagne saucers for an engagement party, and whatever your mind can imagine.
- Prep Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 3/4-pound fresh strawberries, cleaned and sliced
- 1 dry pint of blueberries, whole
- 1 cross-section slice of watermelon, halved, rind removed
- 4 kiwis, pared and sliced
- peel of one orange
- peel of one lemon
- 16 fresh mint leaves, bruised, plus more for garnish
- 375 ml of good-quality vodka
- ice cubes to your liking
Instructions
- I like to use Chopin or Grey Goose for traditional vodka martinis. For mixed cocktails, try a potato vodka from Poland. Luksusowa (Look-soo-SOH-vah) is a good one. It’s smooth, inexpensive, and perfect for mixing in a beverage like this.
- Place all the prepared fruit in a large glass or ceramic samovar or pitcher. Bruise the mint to release the oils and aroma by rubbing the leaves between your palms. Add mint leaves to the samovar. Pour the bottle of vodka over the fruit, cover, and set aside to infuse for 12 hours.
- For each Very Berry Martini, strain the vodka into an ice-filled martini shaker. Shake until chilled. Pour into a martini glass (with or without the ice, depending on individual taste), garnish with mint, and serve.
- Make it fun, and serve the infused fruit on a platter for your guests to nibble!
